TradeFi Column | October 29, 2026

Summary: On October 29, 2026, BBX listed perpetual contracts on four US stocks: CoreWeave ($CRWV), Bloom Energy ($BE), Oracle ($ORCL) and Moderna ($MRNA), spanning three themes: AI cloud, AI power and mRNA biotech. CoreWeave is an AI compute cloud company backed by an equity stake from Nvidia, while Bloom Energy, whose shares have more than doubled this year, is benefiting from surging power demand at data centers. This article walks through each company's business, recent market buzz and analyst views, and explains how stock perpetuals differ from owning the underlying shares.

On October 29, BBX (bbx.com) listed four US stock perpetual contracts:

  • CRWVUSDT: CoreWeave (Nasdaq: $CRWV), a cloud infrastructure company built for AI, with Nvidia as a major shareholder
  • MRNAUSDT: Moderna (Nasdaq: $MRNA), an mRNA vaccine and therapeutics company
  • BEUSDT: Bloom Energy (NYSE: $BE), solid oxide fuel cells and on-site power solutions
  • ORCLUSDT: Oracle (NYSE: $ORCL), databases, enterprise software and cloud infrastructure

CRWVUSDT was listed on its own, while MRNAUSDT, BEUSDT and ORCLUSDT went live in the same batch as five crypto perpetual contracts.

All four companies have been among the most-watched US stocks over the past month: one just reported earnings, one just held its investor day, one released Phase 3 clinical data, and double-digit single-day moves have been common. Here is a closer look at each.

Please note: stock perpetual contracts are derivatives that track the price of the underlying stock. They are not spot shares. Trading these contracts does not mean owning shares in the company and carries no shareholder rights, and contract prices may deviate from the price of the underlying stock.

1. What Does Each Company Do?

1. CoreWeave ($CRWV): The Nvidia-Backed AI "Neocloud"

CoreWeave calls itself "The Essential Cloud for AI," providing GPU compute and cloud services for AI workloads such as model training and inference. The company says 9 of the world's top 10 foundation model providers are its customers. Founded in 2017, it listed on Nasdaq in March 2025. One of its biggest selling points is the backing of Nvidia ($NVDA). Nvidia is not just its GPU supplier but also a major shareholder: according to Nvidia's 13F holdings report filed with the US SEC, as of June 30, 2026, it held about 47.21 million CoreWeave Class A shares, nearly double the roughly 24.28 million it held at the end of 2025. Nvidia's 13G/A amendment shows the stake represents about 11.5% of CoreWeave's Class A shares. Based on that 13F, CoreWeave ranks third by market value among the eight equity positions Nvidia disclosed, behind only Intel and SpaceX.

Its status as "the AI cloud Nvidia invested in" means the market often treats CoreWeave as a bellwether for the Nvidia ecosystem: Nvidia's next-generation GPUs are frequently deployed at scale in its data centers early on.

The industry calls companies like this "neoclouds": rather than offering general-purpose cloud services, they build data centers dedicated to AI compute.

In the secondary market, CoreWeave has been one of the most closely watched, and most volatile, AI names in US stocks this year. Over the past year its share price peaked at around $140 before falling to a 52-week low of about $51 on October 26, a decline of more than half over the year (Finviz, as of October 28). According to WallStreetNumbers, as of October 27 its 10-day historical volatility was about 123%, in the "extreme volatility" range. As for investor attention, the stock lost roughly a quarter of its value in a single week in mid-October, yet net retail buying on Robinhood hit a record that week; on the Friday of that week it was the third most-bought stock on Robinhood, behind only Tesla and SpaceX (Sherwood News). Over the same period, it was also one of the top two most-discussed stocks on Stocktwits (Stocktwits, October 15).

2. Moderna ($MRNA): An mRNA Technology Platform Company

Moderna rose to fame with its COVID-19 mRNA vaccine. Its pipeline now spans respiratory vaccines (COVID-19, RSV, flu and more), latent virus vaccines, rare diseases and oncology. What the market is watching most closely right now is intismeran autogene, the individualized cancer vaccine it is co-developing with Merck.

3. Bloom Energy ($BE): "On-Site Power" for AI Data Centers

Bloom Energy makes solid oxide fuel cell systems that generate electricity directly at the customer's site. AI data center power consumption is growing fast while grid connections are slow, creating new demand for "fast, reliable, dispatchable on-site power." Bloom's growth has been driven by exactly this demand. In September 2026, Bloom Energy was officially added to the S&P 500 (Motley Fool, September 8).

It is also one of the hottest AI power stocks in the US market this year. Bloom shares rose more than 291% in 2025 and have kept climbing in 2026, up about 162.5% year to date as of October 28 (CNBC; Yahoo Finance). In April alone the stock gained more than 100%, and a Mizuho trader at the time described it as "about to become a meme stock," with heavy retail participation (CNBC, April 29). On September 25 the stock reached an interim high of about $292.7, a gain of roughly 86% in two months (TradingKey).

The market's enthusiasm comes down to a few main factors:

  • AI data centers are "short on power": the chips can be bought, but the power can't be hooked up. In the US, connecting a data center to the grid often takes years, and Bloom's own survey shows utilities' power delivery timelines run 1.5 to 2 years later than data center developers expect (Bloom Energy 2026 Power Report). Bloom's fuel cells generate electricity directly on site at the data center, independent of the grid, and can be deployed quickly; according to Motley Fool, they can get a data center powered up in about three months.
  • Backing from major customers and major capital: Oracle plans to buy up to 2.8 GW of Bloom systems and received warrants to purchase $400 million of Bloom stock (CNBC, April 14); Brookfield expanded its project financing partnership framework with Bloom from $5 billion to $25 billion (Motley Fool).
  • Results are coming through: Q3 revenue grew 138% year over year and full-year revenue guidance has been raised repeatedly, showing that orders are turning into revenue rather than remaining just a story.
  • S&P 500 inclusion: joining the index means passive funds need to hold it, bringing further attention and capital.

The buzz was still there in October: the stock fell sharply at one point after Q3 earnings, yet retail sentiment on Stocktwits shifted from "neutral" to "extremely bullish," with related message volume up about 486% in a single day (Stocktwits, October 22).

Notably, Oracle, listed alongside Bloom in this batch, is one of its major customers, so the two contracts can be viewed side by side to track the interplay between AI cloud and AI power.

4. Oracle ($ORCL): From Database Giant to AI Cloud

Oracle's core business has long been databases and enterprise software (ERP, HCM, NetSuite and more). Over the past two years, it has pushed aggressively into AI cloud infrastructure (OCI), competing with hyperscalers such as Google and Amazon and supplying compute to OpenAI. According to FactSet data cited by CNBC, its capital expenditures more than doubled in fiscal 2026 to $55.7 billion.

2. Why These Four? Three Themes

Theme 1: AI Compute and Cloud ($CRWV + $ORCL) In October 2026, the "financing question" around AI infrastructure was one of the most debated topics in US stocks. CoreWeave and Oracle are the two names most often mentioned together under this theme: both are building data centers at massive scale, both carry heavy debt, and both stocks are highly sensitive to interest rates and credit spreads. With both listed at the same time, users can compare two types of companies in the "AI cloud" sector from a single account: a pure-play compute neocloud and a legacy software giant in transition.

Theme 2: AI Power ($BE) Compute ultimately comes down to power. Bloom Energy's growth benefits directly from data center power demand, making it one of the representative companies at the intersection of "AI + energy."

Theme 3: Biotech / mRNA ($MRNA) Moderna's moves this year have had little correlation with the AI sector; they are driven mainly by clinical data and regulatory progress, making it a different kind of event-driven name. Pairing it with the other three means this batch of listings covers tech + energy + healthcare.

3. Recent Performance and Market Buzz

The data below comes from public sources, with dates in US Eastern Time; share prices are closing prices on October 28, 2026, unless otherwise noted.

CoreWeave ($CRWV): A Rebound After a Deep Selloff, With Debt in Focus

  • Recent moves: Closed at $63.93 on October 28, up 7.32% on the day (Yahoo Finance). As of October 28, the stock was down about 10.7% year to date (Yahoo Finance), with a 52-week range of $51.24–$140.33 and the 52-week low set on October 26 (CNBC quote page).
  • What's behind it: According to CNBC on October 21, CoreWeave shares had fallen 36% that month, its unsecured bond yields were around 15%, and its 5-year CDS spread had reached 1,145 basis points. The market's concern is the refinancing cost facing highly leveraged neoclouds.
  • A clear analyst split: Most firms remain bullish, but price targets vary widely, from a low of about $39 to a high of about $318 (data from 42 firms compiled by Aries).
    • The bulls: Goldman Sachs upgraded the stock from "Neutral" to "Buy" on October 19 with a $106 price target, saying CoreWeave ranks "at the top in terms of quality" among neoclouds (CNBC); Piper Sandler maintained "Overweight" while cutting its target from $153 to $124 (Yahoo Finance, October 21); Oppenheimer maintained "Outperform" and a $150 target, arguing the bond selloff had amplified market fears about risk (Investing.com, October 27). Jefferies, JPMorgan and Cantor Fitzgerald also said in mid-October that the selloff was "overdone" (CNBC, October 16).
    • The cautious camp: HSBC maintained "Reduce" with a $39 price target, the lowest on Wall Street; Morgan Stanley maintained "Neutral" while cutting its target from $99 to $70 (October 23). D.A. Davidson analyst Gil Luria said publicly that if the AI cycle stalls, CoreWeave could be among the first companies hit (Stocktwits, October 15).
    • Overall, according to LSEG data, 31 of the 45 analysts covering CoreWeave rate it "Buy" or "Strong Buy" (CNBC, October 19).
  • Next catalyst: The company will report Q3 2026 results on November 10 (ET) (CoreWeave investor relations announcement, October 27).
  • Buzz: The CNBC quote page shows 10-day average volume of about 86.07 million shares. After Oracle's investor day on October 28, CoreWeave and other AI cloud stocks rallied in tandem (Reuters).

Moderna ($MRNA): Stunning Year-to-Date Gains, Big Swings on Clinical Data

  • Recent moves: Closed at $214.17 on October 28, up 2.98% on the day; year-to-date return of about +626% as of October 28 (Yahoo Finance). The stock closed as high as $245.81 on October 21, fell about 17.6% on October 22, then stabilized and rebounded over the following sessions (stockcharted.com daily data).
  • Key catalyst: On October 22, Phase 3 data for the individualized cancer vaccine developed by Moderna and Merck leaked early. The data showed that, compared with Keytruda alone, the combination reduced the risk of recurrence or death in certain melanoma patients by 42%. The results were widely seen as positive, but expectations had run too high, and the stock fell as much as about 25% intraday (CNBC, October 22). The data was subsequently formally presented at the ESMO 2026 Congress and published in The New England Journal of Medicine, and the stock recovered (Investing.com, October 28).
  • Analyst views: William Blair downgraded the stock to "Market Perform," while Piper Sandler raised its price target (Investing.com, October 28).
  • Next catalyst: Q3 results are expected on November 6 (Investing.com, October 28).
  • Buzz: Volume on October 22 was about 49.95 million shares, 2–4 times that of the surrounding sessions (stockcharted.com). Investing.com noted that options implied volatility is elevated.

Bloom Energy ($BE): A Pullback After Record Earnings, Then a Rebound

  • Recent moves: Closed at $228.08 on October 28, up 4.38% on the day; year-to-date return of about +162.5% as of October 28 (Yahoo Finance). According to a Motley Fool article on October 24, the stock was then more than a third below its all-time high.
  • Key catalyst: Q3 results released on October 22 showed record revenue of $1.2358 billion, up 138.1% year over year; full-year revenue guidance was raised to $4.4–$4.6 billion (Bloom Energy press release). However, free cash flow for the quarter was negative (about -$181 million) and contract assets rose sharply, which became a focus of market discussion (Motley Fool). On October 23, the day after earnings, the stock fell about 11.2%, then rebounded for three consecutive sessions (stockcharted.com).
  • Analyst views: Evercore ISI maintained its Outperform rating (Investing.com, October 26).
  • Buzz: Volume on October 23 was about 36.02 million shares, roughly 2–3 times that of the preceding sessions (stockcharted.com).

Oracle ($ORCL): Investor Day "Shows the Math," Stock Surges

  • Recent moves: Closed at $144.54 on October 28, up 10.73% on the day (Yahoo Finance), on volume of about 81.42 million shares, roughly three times that of most prior sessions (Yahoo Finance historical data). Even so, the stock is still down about 25% year to date (Yahoo Finance, October 28).
  • Key catalyst: At its October 28 investor day, Oracle set a target of more than $225 billion in revenue for fiscal 2030, said it expects free cash flow to turn positive in the second half of fiscal 2028, and projected free cash flow of more than $30 billion in fiscal 2029. It also committed to capping new financing at $20 billion over fiscal 2027–2030, split evenly between equity and debt (Oracle press release; CNBC; Reuters).
  • Market backdrop: Previously, the market's main worries were Oracle's heavy debt load and its reliance on a single customer, OpenAI (Reuters). After the investor day, Oracle shares surged, and AI cloud stocks such as CoreWeave and Nebius rallied along with it.
Regarding social buzz metrics such as Google Trends search interest and X/Reddit discussion volume: [TBD] (verifiable public data was not available at the time of writing; screenshots or data sources should be added before publication).

4. What to Watch in Each Contract

  • CRWVUSDT: Think of it as a "thermometer" for the AI compute financing environment. Changes in interest rates, credit spreads and major customers' capital spending often show up first in its share price. The November 10 earnings report is the most closely watched near-term event.
  • ORCLUSDT: A legacy software giant pivoting to AI cloud, whose investor day laid out a fairly clear financial roadmap. What comes next is execution, and whether the market buys into the plan.
  • BEUSDT: A representative play on AI power demand; the key question is whether high growth can translate smoothly into cash flow.
  • MRNAUSDT: A classic event-driven biotech stock, where clinical data, regulatory filings and earnings can all trigger sharp swings.
